Permanent makeup pricing varies with country, city, procedure, provider, facility, included sessions and local requirements. A low quote is not proof of danger, and a high quote is not proof of skill. Compare the complete service and the evidence behind it.
Ask what the quote includes
- consultation, design and informed consent;
- the initial procedure and its expected scope;
- aftercare supplies and access to follow-up advice;
- healed review or additional-session terms;
- deposits, cancellations and refund conditions;
- taxes, fees and any separately priced maintenance;
- the response if treatment is postponed or declined for safety.

Evaluate the provider, not the décor
Check applicable training, licensing or registration through the relevant local source. Ask about infection-control practice, single-use items, device and pigment traceability, sharps disposal, insurance where relevant, emergency procedures and written aftercare. Requirements differ, so generic claims such as “medical grade” should be verified rather than admired.
Look for healed evidence
Fresh work shows design but not final retention or color. Review genuine healed examples relevant to the procedure and skin characteristics, while remembering that portfolios are selected examples rather than guarantees. Ask how images are dated and whether editing changes treatment evidence.

Understand future costs without inventing a total
Maintenance, correction or removal may be needed, but neither frequency nor cost is universal. Ask how the provider defines a touch-up, when healed work is assessed and what happens if adding pigment is not appropriate. Removal is a specialist decision with variable methods, risks and timelines.
Useful warning signs
- pressure to book or pay before suitability questions are answered;
- no clear identity for the practitioner or treatment location;
- refusal to discuss hygiene, pigments or healed work;
- guaranteed results, painless treatment or permanent color claims;
- unclear consent, aftercare, complaint or follow-up terms;
- a quote that changes after arrival without a clear scope change.
A fair comparison
Request written quotes from suitable local providers and compare the same procedure, inclusions and conditions. A portfolio-building price can be legitimate when supervision, experience and limitations are disclosed. Decide whether the provider's evidence, communication and plan justify the total commitment for you.
